Business Description

Ecodudu is a waste-to-value producer using proprietary Black Soldier Fly bioconversion technology to recycle organic waste into animal feed and fertilizer. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the company operates a 45-day conversion cycle with in-house hatchery and fly colony maintenance. Founded in 2017 and backed by Greentec Capital, Ecodudu has onboarded 47 farmers and recycled over 16,000 tonnes of organic waste, displacing significant soybean and fishmeal imports while saving 100,000 tonnes of water versus soy protein production.

Substrate: Organic waste from food producers (fruit waste, agricultural byproducts, crop waste)

Technology: Proprietary BSF bioconversion system with 45-day conversion cycle. In-house hatchery maintains fly colony; female flies lay ~500 eggs hatching in ~4 days. Larvae dried and processed into Dudumeal (47% protein) and Shambamix (organic fertilizer).
